Papers in special sessions should be submitted electronically via Online Submission & Review System. The format of the initial submissions must be PDF. All submitted papers will be refereed by experts in the respective fields according to the criteria of originality, significance, quality, and clarity. The Special Session will be officially accepted by ICIC2007 on the condition that there are at least 5 papers accepted by peer-reviewers. So the organizers for the prospective Special Sessions are welcome to invite more authors to submit their works to our conference. All accepted papers with paid registration will be included in the Proceedings of ICIC 2007, and all the authors of the papers finally accepted by Special Sessions must attend the conference and present their works to audience.

The educational potential of computer based technologies is wide-ranging. The introduction of multimedia can not only deliver interesting materials at a distance, but utilize 3D images and vitality to enable students to explore and interact in ways which exploit visualization and constructive modes of learning. Enabling computer based systems not only to manage student interactions, but also to interpret and support differences in learning paths and styles, allows them to accommodate more effectively a wider range of student experience and preferences. Wide area networks and the Internet stimulate a sharing of materials and collaborative learning methods between students and teachers that can be interactive and build up a social awareness that can span cultural differences.
Technology is now widely used in a variety of educational and performance support situations. New technologies are being introduced before we learn how to make effective use of existing technologies. This special session will focus on Intelligent Computing into e-Learning and Technology Integration. The session relevant to this topic include, but are not limited to the following: (1) the impact of new technologies on the design, development and delivery of educational and training materials; (2) new frameworks for planning and implementing learning and work support materials for new technology settings; and (3) interactions that may exist between personality and cultural factors and collaboration in e-learning environments.

The investigation and analysis on the biologic colony has demonstrated that intelligence generated from complex activities, such as cooperation and competition among individuals, can provide efficient solutions for complex optimization problems. Inspired by the social behavior of animals such as fish schooling and bird flocking, the Particle Swarm Optimization (PSO) method has been designed by Kennedy and Eberhart in 1995. As an effective optimization method, PSO has been widely applied in many research areas and real-world engineering fields, such as, task assignment and scheduling, reactive power and voltage control and so on.

In this revolutionary era, the major and fundamental issues we face today is how to efficiently analyze, process, and take advantage of the plethora of information of the real world. Particularly, intelligent computing has been widely and actively studied in the recent decades with a wide range of diversity of sources. Many technologies based on intelligent systems have been developed and applied in various practical applications.
Introduction of intelligence to a practical system could offer many advantages in terms of usability, reliability, management, and user acceptance. Multimedia technologies represent new ground for research interactions among a variety of media such as speech, audio, image, video, text and graphics. Future multimedia technologies will need to handle information with an increasing level of intelligence, i. e., automatic recognition and interpretation of multimedia/multi-modal signals. This special session focuses on applying intelligent computing technologies to multimedia systems.
This special session intents to bring together diversity of international researchers, experts and practitioners who are currently working in the area of intelligent computing and its applications in multimedia systems. It will explore the advances of signal processing techniques in such problems. Its goal is to stimulate interest in this field and to create productive synergy among researchers who are working in this fascinating area. Prominent researchers both from academia and industry are invited to attend and show advances in the state-of-the-art in the field. This justifies and reassures the relevance of the proposed section. We believe that this special session will promote further co-operation between specialists who are working in intelligent computing technologies including signal processing, multimedia and information processing, computer security & cryptography and other related disciplines.
Furthermore, it will give interested researchers an opportunity to review the current state-of-art of the topic, exchange recent ideas, and explore promising new directions. Chemoinformatics is an emerging scientific field which exploits computational methods to address chemical problems that are particularly of interest to chemical and drug industries and researchers in life science. Recently, since a large number of chemical databases have been made available, computational analytic algorithms are highly solicited to analyse the large volumes of chemical information for a variety of purposes. Fuzzy control is a practical alternative for a variety of challenging control applications since it provides a convenient method for constructing nonlinear controllers via the use of heuristic information. Such heuristic information may come from an operator who has acted as a ＾human-in-the-loop￣ controller for a process. In the fuzzy control design methodology, we ask this operator to write down a set of rules on how to control the process, and then we incorporate these into a fuzzy controller that emulates the decision-making process of the human. In other cases, the heuristic information may come from a control engineer who has performed extensive mathematical modeling, analysis, and development of control algorithms for a particular process. Again, such expertise is loaded into the fuzzy controller to automate the reasoning processes and actions of the expert. Regardless of where the heuristic control knowledge comes from, fuzzy control provides a user-friendly formalism for representing and implementing the ideas we have about how to achieve high-performance control.
This special session will focus on Intelligent Computing into Fuzzy Control. 13. Special Session on Hybrid Information Technology using Computational Intelligence
The session name follows such concepts as Hybrid Intelligence, Hybrid Information, and Hybrid Technology, which reflect a change in the thinking of scientists and practitioners, who now tend to join their efforts within multidisciplinary projects. Our goal is to investigate hybrid approaches to real world hardware and software problems, to seek for combinations amplifying the range of previously developed methods, which would be best suited for mostly emerging applications, but would also lead to the new scientific observations and generalizations. 15. Special Session on Computational Systems Biology
To understand complex biological systems requires the integration of experimental and computational works ? or a systems biology approach. Computational biology, through pragmatic modeling and theoretical exploration, provides a powerful foundation from which to address critical scientific questions head-on. Many scientists are involved in this new area ranging from biochemistry, computational chemistry, molecular biology, biophysics, physics to computer science, statistics and mathematics.
The kernel of computational systems biology is in development of computational tools for solving biological problems. The basic process can be roughly summarized as mathematical analysis, numerical simulation, data collection, refinement and improvement of models based on comparison with experimental data and the development of theories to enhance our understanding of biological systems. Myriad computational tools including deterministic and stochastic modeling, Monte Carlo simulations, data mining and data analysis are needed in approaching these problems. Applied mathematical topics including nonlinear dynamical systems (discrete and continuous), partial differential equations, probability and statistics, linear algebra, network theory, numerical analysis, control theory, asymptotic and perturbation methods provide the fundamental tools for modeling and analysis. Recently, the potential computation power has been requested and affected from the necessity for the massive data processing.
